It was Grandpa's birthday tea. And Coconut had found the only puddle in the whole garden.
Coconut: Look, Mia! I'm a chocolate dog now! Do you like it?
Mia: Coconut! You're all muddy! You need a bath before tea.
Coconut: A bath? Did somebody say bath? I'm not here. Bye!
How does Mia catch Coconut?
- Chase him round the gardenThis time
- Tempt him with a sausage
Round the apple tree. Under the washing line. Through the flowers. Mia ran and ran.
Coconut: You'll never catch me! I'm the fastest chocolate dog in the world!
Mia: Got you! A big muddy cuddle! Oh no, now I'm muddy too!
So Mia carried her very muddy friend to the big tin tub in the garden.
Grandpa poured in warm water. Mia squeezed in the bubble bath. Squeeze. Squeeze. Squeeeeeze.
Grandpa: Oh dear. Mia, I think that might be a bit too much.
Coconut: Help! The bubbles are taking over!
What does Mia do with all the bubbles?
- Blow the bubbles to the skyThis time
- Give Coconut a bubble beard
Mia took a big breath and blew. Hundreds of bubbles floated up into the sky.
Coconut: Wow. The sky is having a bath too.
Grandpa: The best birthday decorations I've ever had.
When the last bubble popped, Grandpa rinsed Coconut with the watering can.
Coconut: Brrr. I'm clean. I'm wet. I'm a little bit cold.
Mia: Don't worry, Coconut. I know how to make you dry.
How does Mia dry Coconut?
- Wrap him in a towel burritoThis time
- Do a sunshine shake dance
Mia wrapped Coconut in a big fluffy towel. Round and round. A Coconut burrito.
Coconut: Warm. Snug. I may never come out again.
Mia: You're the cleanest, cosiest dog in the whole world.
That night, Coconut was warm, dry and very snuggly when Mia climbed into bed.
Coconut: Mia? I smell like flowers now. Is that okay for a dog?
Mia: It's perfect. You smell like a birthday.
Coconut snuggled in. The cleanest, sleepiest dog in the whole street.
